“Spring Fair”, the annual community event that had taken place in Richmond Hill since
1849 and discontinued after 1996, will be back in 2023, proudly announced by Deputy Mayor Godwin Chan at Richmond Hill Central Library today. During the year when we celebrate the 150th anniversary in Richmond Hill, “Spring Fair”, an annual tradition in Richmond Hill community for 147 years will be back at Town Park, the same location where the historic annual celebration of spring were held, from noon to 3 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
Complimentary BBQ food (burgers and hot dogs) and ice cream cones will be served while quantities last. Richmond Hill’s antique fire truck in 1924 will be on display. The family-oriented community event includes children activities, public and community services booths, and live band performance.

While Spring Fair in the earlier days listed
horses with a prize list, the 2023 event has a door prize of a free weekend use of 2023 Lexus RX350.

Peter Wilson, Historic Collection Librarian, will showcase copies of Spring Fair historic collections at Richmond Hill Central Library. In addition, the Ukrainian community will participate in the 2023 Spring Fair to perform and share their culture and welcome support to help newcomers who are in need. As well, St. John Ambulance will have their Community Food Truck to collect donations for the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank at the Spring Fair.

Bring along your family and friends with non-perishable food items for donations to local food bank to enjoy the community celebration of Spring 2023. See you there!

“In the year 2023 when Richmond Hill is celebrating 150th anniversary, I am proud to bring back “Spring Fair” that has been a tradition as an annual community event for 147 years unit until 1996. It is exciting to receive enthusiastic support from business and local community of the return of this historic event. Everyone is invited to Town Park where Spring Fairs were held in earlier days of Richmond Hill. Mark the date, Saturday, May 20, and see community members between noon and 3 pm.” Deputy Mayor Godwin Chan.
