Wolf Moon 2024: When and where can you watch the first full moon of 2024 in its peak?

The first full moon of 2024, also known as the Wolf Moon appeared on Wednesday night but it will peak on Thursday night.

NASA said January's full moon will be at its peak at 12:54 p.m. ET on Thursday. It will look like the first moon until Friday midnight. However, it will be visible later on in the evening for most of the Northern Hemisphere.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac detailed the specific time for moonrise in different ZIP codes across the U.S. 

How can you watch Wolf Moon 2024?

NASA said that people do not need any extra gears to watch the full moon 2024. Anybody who wishes to see the first full moon of this year can simply go outside and look at the sky. 

According to NASA’s skywatching guide, individuals should make sure that they are ready for the cold weather to enjoy the sky’s wonders at night.

January’s full moon is also known as the Center Moon because it approximately marks the middle of the winter season. 

Several other names include Cold Moon, Frost Exploding Moon, Freeze Up Moon, Severe Moon and Hard Moon.

Next month’s full moon is called Snow Moon and it will be at its peak on Feb. 24 which will be followed by March’s Worm Moon on March 25.
