In a peculiar incident, a mysterious shipwreck reached Newfoundland shoreline leaving people curious.

Earlier this month,, the shipwreck, which included the hull of a wooden ship which washed up along the shoreline near Cape Ray. It is a tiny community on the southwest coast of Newfoundland.

Remarkably, this area is known to be the final resting site of around eight other ships that were destroyed due to uncooperative weather.

As per reports, the latest mysterious shipwreck was initially spotted by a local resident while he was hunting seabirds on Jan. 20.

According to Canadian Press, Gordon Blackmore then rushed home and told his mother who wanted to see the shipwreck for herself. Later she said, “It’s amazing” while adding that there is no other word for it.

In order to further understand the situation, the provincial government has sent an investigative team to inquire about the shipwreck. The authorities would then identify and preserve what remains.

However, the team might face the same challenging weather conditions that ultimately led to the shipwreck in the first place, reports stated.

Several residents were alerted that the ship may wash away the ship from the store as quickly as it arrived. According to Canadian Press, resident Bert Osmond told the agency that the ship has already moved several dozens of metres away from where it was first spotted.

He said that if the ship goes back out to sea, “we’re not going to know anything.”

Now, a facebook page for Cape Ray locals is teeming with citizen researchers. They have been posting pictures on social media along with the theories surrounding the shipwreck.

The ship, with current information, appears quite old because wooden dowels were reportedly spotted being used as nails. This has led many people to believe that the boat may have been constructed in the 1800s as copper pegs were also spotted in the pictures of the shipwreck.
