Maxwell Heights Secondary School closed after reported bomb threat

Maxwell Heights Secondary School in Oshawa received a bomb threat on Monday morning, the Durham Region Police said.
 
In a statement, police said that the high school near Harmony and Taunton roads was closed as investigation is currently ongoing.

The parents were asked to keep their children at home. 

An online post by Durham Region police read, “We are working to ensure the safety of all staff and students.”

“The school will remain closed while the investigation takes place,” it added.

However, there is no clear word about the nature of the threat made to Maxwell Heights Secondary School. 

In hours following the incident, Durham Regional Police reported the conclusion of the investigation. It said that there is “no credible information” regarding the bomb threat made to the high school. 

Durham Regional Police said on social media, “Police have concluded their investigation into the reported bomb threat, and at this time, there is no credible information supporting the validity of the threat.”
