A baby was delivered on a recent Air Canada flight bound for Toronto.

In an email sent to CTV News, Air Canada confirmed the incident and revealed that the flight attendants on board acted swiftly to assist the soon-to-be mother who was prematurely in labour, they said.

Two people rose up for assistance after the crew asked if there were any doctors on the plane.

In the wake of the incident, the Air Canada flight was diverted to Bermuda to accommodate the delivery of the baby, who was born before the plane touched the tarmac.

As per reports, the medical professionals transferred the mother and the baby to a local hospital in healthy condition.

In a statement, Air Canada thanked the doctors for their assistance and its crew for its professionalism.

Pregnant customers can travel on an Air Canada flight up to 36 weeks with a normal pregnancy.

In 2015, a 23-year-old woman from Canada, unaware she was 37 weeks pregnant, unexpectedly gave birth on an Air Canada flight from Calgary to Tokyo.

Ada Guan and her partner, Wesley Branch, had been dating for about a year and were surprised by the pregnancy.

Despite Guan's weight gain and a negative pregnancy test, neither she nor Branch, who reside in Victoria, B.C., nor a doctor consulted before their flight, detected the pregnancy.
